Memorial Day Weekend

We had so much fun this weekend. We didn't have any plans, but we did a ton of grilling, walking and playing. Just watching Leo explore his environment is entertainment enough for us. He has such a sense of wonderment and curiosity about the world. I wish we all could experience life through Leo's eyes. Leo is not self conscious in any way, he derives true joy from saying hello to strangers and dogs alike and he can make a game out of the simplest of objects. He is also fearless. He is never afraid try something new, even if he takes a tumble. He is also so sweet. He wakes up with a smile on his face and his first few words of the day are always the things in life he treasures most, "ma ma, da da, car, ball, choo choo." Joe and I are so in love with our little boy and he has made us feel like a true family.

Play, Play, Play!

Only 13 months and already doing math!

Oh know! Stuck in the tunnel again!
Morning look!
We have a climber on our hands!

Not too much to report. Leo just plays all the time and is now climbing, which is super scary and means he needs to be supervised at all times. He seems to have transitioned form baby to little boy and is more adorable with each day.

Leo has added the words yes and wow to his vocabulary. Luckily for us, he still doesn't say the word no.

Leo will also bring us the remote control and say either choo choo (Thomas and Friends) or cars (the movie Cars), depending on what he wants to watch on tv.

Our Little Puppy!

Leo played all weekend. We had glorious weather, which means we spent a lot of quality time outdoors. Leo is very much like a puppy and plays fetch, chews on everything in sight and prefers to eat food from the floor. We spent time at the duck pond and in our backyard and Leo had so much fun chasing balls.

He also had his first sugar coma. We took a walk to the local Dairy Queen and Joe shared his cherry chocolate blizzard. Leo kept demanding "mauh, mauh," which is his way of saying "give me!" Leo has gained a ton of weight recently. His high fat diet seems to be working because our little guy is really getting chunky!

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day! The celebration started yesterday when we had a Mexican Fiesta at my parent's house. The food was delicious and I was so stuffed. It was great to spend time with my parents and Tiff and Martin.

Today, Joe let me sleep in and took Leo to the grocery store to do the weekly shopping. He then made us breakfast burritos with egg, green chile and sausage....yummy! Joe continued to let me take it easy and did not let me lift a finger. We finished the day with a walk at a local park and a fine dinner of grilled hamburgers and home fries. Leo and Daddy even bought me cards and beautiful flowers. I love being a mommy and it is amazing that there is a day that celebrates that!

Busy Boy

Leo has been a very busy boy. He just finished his swim classes and although he remained apprehensive about the whole pool experience, he seemed to warm up to it by the end. We were able to get him to go under water and splash about and it was a great bonding experience for Joe and Leo.

I frequently take him to the park, library and other destinations that are within walking distance. Now that Leo can walk, that's all he wants to do! Today I took him to the park, and just let him walk around while I chased him. He has so much energy to burn and sometimes, I have a difficult time keeping up.
