Preparing for Baby

This weekend was all about babies...and a toddler too. On Saturday, my Mom, Tiffany and I went to the Party Depot and picked out baby shower decor. We chose a a theme of teddy bears and I have to admit, it is all very Leo. I really appreciate that they are throwing me a shower and was thrilled that I was invited to give them my input on the party theme. Well, I didn't find any invites that I liked (I know...I am way too picky!) and the graphic designer side of me was aching to make my own. Tiffany and I later went to Michael's craft store, where I loaded up on supplies. I know this is not customary, but this is my passion. Anyhow, they turned out very cute and each and every one is unique, so I was very pleased. For many of you reading this, you are most likely too far attend the shower and I am really saddened by that. I wish that all of my friends and family were close enough to share in our special day.

On Sunday, our little friend Tegan came by for a visit. Her mom and dad, Lauren and Craig, went to see the movie Juno, so we were lucky enough to pal around with Tegan for a few hours. We had so much fun making arts and crafts, playing with Leo's toys and chasing cats. Tegan even made her parents an invitation to the baby shower, which had a flair all of its own. Tegan is welcome to hang anytime!

29 Weeks Pregnant

So I made it through the darkness of being sick and am now almost 100% better. At 29 weeks, I am really starting to feel pregnant. It really hurts to bend over and I feel so uncomfortable trying to sleep at night. On a positive note, Joe and I have been able to really interact with Leo. Joe reads him stories almost everyday and he always wakes up to give his daddy a kick or two. He really loves to hear Joe's voice. He also really loves the middle of the night. He becomes a very active little boy when I am trying to sleep. It's very cute though and I can never fault him for being so athletic.

Mookie Wilson

This is the distinguished Mookie Wilson. He has been around for 4 months longer than Joe and I have been together and was a sweet kitten when we met. As you can see, he is quite handsome, but he is also a loyal friend. We have a hunch that he and Leo will be best buds.

Horrible Virus

I got ill Tuesday night...really ill. I vomited all through the night and when there was nothing left to vomit, I started vomiting water. I won't get into all the gruesome details, but it didn't end there and I managed to lose 5 pounds in 2 days. Joe was all set to take me to either Urgent Care or my ObGyn's office (they are in the same building), but after calling my doctor's nurse, she said that it was best for me to stay home in bed and that staying hydrated was the most important thing for me. Also, she reassured us that the baby was protected from whatever was causing my ailment. I took 2 days off of work and am now starting to eat again, so this is all very good news. I have to admit that this is the worst I have ever remembered feeling and I am just thankful that I am on the road the recovery.

On another sad note, the ducks have moved on. It seems as though it may be too cold for the ducks to hang at the Morris Wildlife Preserve.....maybe they'll return next year.

Wildlife Preserve

We got more than we bargained for when we moved into our new place. We have a huge backyard and our neighbors on both sides of us have built up their backyards just enough to have all the rain water drain into our backyard. As a result, we have a cute little "pond" that has attracted mallards. First we had one happy little couple swimming about, but the party kept growing and we reached a record high number of attendees this morning...7 couples! We actually love them and hope to see some ducklings this spring.

27 Weeks Pregnant

Wow! At 27 and a half weeks pregnant I am really starting to show! Leo is very active now and I feel him daily, as does Joe. It's really fun to bring my little buddy with me everywhere, but sleeping has gotten increasingly uncomfortable.

Today Joe and I met with a great pediatrician. Her name is Dr. Kirsten Crowley and she is smart, upbeat, sincere and a mother of 2 small children too. We both really like her and are happy that Leo will be in good hands. To learn more about her, check out her bio at:

Painting the Nursery

My nesting instincts are really kicking in. I absolutely had to paint Leo's room blue and it looks awesome. Joe and I bought an adorable bedding set for Leo's crib called a Day at the Park that features a baby bear and his Dad going to a ball game. It matches our nursery theme/s: sports/patriotic/teddy bears. We matched the paint color to the quilt and it turned out perfect. Joe and I are so pleased with the results and we had fun painting too. Leo is one lucky little boy!
